Sometimes called “Mother Nature’s chocolate chips”, cacao nibs are cacao beans that have been hulled and roasted in preparation for candy making. One of the premier superfoods out there, nibs are filled with antioxidants. An excellent dietary source of magnesium, they also contain healthy amounts of calcium, iron, copper, zinc and potassium. Similar in texture to coffee beans, but with a distinctive chocolate flavour, they’re great in baked goods, smoothies and even salads.
Green Goodness! Pumpkin Kernels, also known as pepitas, have a bright green colour and are encased in a hard white shell. Once cracked, the flat, elongated oval-shaped seed is revealed and can add fantastic colour and a crunchy punch to many dishes, especially salads! Once toasted, pumpkin kernels take on a beautiful golden tinge and a delicious roasted flavour. When raw, they have a slightly chewy texture and a sweet nutty flavour!
